Inveterate Bit Bodger. I build castles in the cloud and chase shiny things.

I first fell in love with computers sometime in the very late 1970s or early 80s. My first computer like thing was the Mattel Intellivision, and I remember sitting there playing the oddball poker game it came with, thinking "Man I wish *I* could control what gets painted on the screen!". A few years later, I had an Atari 400 computer and I was in love. I still have an Atari 800XL on my desk behind me. Old computers are fun because they're *simple* and you can understand everything about them without getting a PHD and investing person years :) These days I build cloud infrastructure for MIT Online Learning by day and enjoy puttering with computers old and new at night, in addition to reading, playing games, and spending time with my awesome wife and our rescue dog, Cookie :) I still love writing Python code by hand even in this era where our new artificially intelligent overlords hold sway. I don't ever want us to lose track of the fact that computers are a lot of fun!

I enjoy small internet communities. I think there's magic in the small! For example ISCABBS: https://iscabbs.rocks/

I love hackable platforms like Neovim: https://neovim.io/ - part of my love for Neovim is that you can hack on it using Lua! It's my second favorite programming language after Python.
